The third company seminar, which took place in the second week of December 2014, was yet another great occasion for the shore and sea staff of the Armona & Atlantis family to unite and exchange experiences, ideas, and explore ways to further improve the quality of our work.
The third company-run officer seminar was held on the 9th and 10th of December 2014 at our own premises, with the participation of over 30 senior and junior officers and various speakers. The opening speech was delivered by the Company’s CEO, Mr. Lorenz Weinstabl, followed by the CTO, Captain Levent Karsan.
They were followed by the DPA, Captain Gökhan Özgal, who explained ISM implementations, KPIs, best practices, and the safety culture of the company. Fleet Manager, Captain Bülent İlbay, presented the importance of correctly keeping rest hour records on board. Other speakers included Chartering Manager, Captain Kutay Somaklı, and Technical Manager, Mr. Altan Çetin, who addressed significant commercial and technical issues such as bunkering and nitrogen generators. Additionally, several guest speakers covered topics like obesity amongst seafarers, collision prevention regulations, painting onboard, and preparations for vetting inspections.
Many of the topics were interactive and attracted the interest of the participating officers. The seminar was further enriched by a visit to Tuzla, where the officers observed the simulated launching of a liferaft, as well as enjoyable lunch and dinner gatherings where office and sea staff had the opportunity to socialize.
The seminar concluded with a bowling game for all participants, and at the end, the winner was presented with a medal by CEO, Mr. Weinstabl.
