Delivery of Newly Built MT Atlantis Almeira

Delivery of Newly Built MT Atlantis Almeira

Almeira Shipping Ltd. took delivery of the MT Atlantis Almeira, the last in a series of four 6,400 DWT chemical/product tankers, on June 6th, 2010.

Designed by Delta Marine, the MT Atlantis Almeira boasts a cargo capacity of approximately 6,000 tons across ten large, fully independent cargo tanks (7,172 cubic meters each). These tanks are coated with Marineline, an advanced polymer coating offering superior chemical resistance compared to standard epoxy coatings.

Built to Bureau Veritas standards, the vessel features several advanced features:

  • Ice Class 1C: Strengthened hull structure and machinery for navigating icy waters.
  • Nitrogen Generator: Purges or pads cargo tanks with inert gas during loading and unloading.
  • Auxiliary Propulsion System: Allows for continued operation in case of main engine failure.
  • Comfort Vibration Notation: Ensures exceptional crew comfort by minimizing vibrations.

With an overall length of 109.0 meters, breadth of 16.8 meters, and draft of 6.65 meters (loaded), the MT Atlantis Almeira is powered by a single medium-speed main engine (2,665 kW, 750 rpm) burning heavy fuel oil (380 cSt). This engine drives a controllable pitch propeller, delivering a service speed of approximately 13 knots when fully laden.

Armona Denizcilik, acting as the main contractor for this vessel built at Istanbul Shipyard (newbuilding number 22), is proud of its contributions. Our responsibilities included:

  • Building specification preparation
  • Machinery and superstructure space design
  • Procurement of all materials
  • Classification-related matters
  • Quality control
  • Sea trials
  • Mobilization

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Captain Karsan and his team, whose dedication and hard work under challenging shipyard conditions ensured the delivery of another high-quality vessel to our fleet.
