It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Captain Semih Falay. Captain Falay suffered a sudden heart attack on the night of March 28th, 2020.
Semih's exceptional leadership played a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining a largely new team under improved systems when he joined our company. We are deeply saddened by his loss, especially for his family - his life partner Kiymet and his 17-year-old son Mete. Our thoughts and condolences are with them during this incredibly difficult time.
Born in 1971, Captain Falay graduated from the Istanbul Navigation High School and obtained his Master's certificate. He spent ten years at sea, including four years as a Master Mariner. Following his seafaring career, he transitioned to shore-based roles at two different tanker management companies. He began as a Deck Superintendent, rose to the position of DPA/CSO, and eventually became Managing Director. After a brief return to sea, Captain Falay joined Armona Denizcilik in June 2016 as Chief Technical Officer.
He made significant contributions to improving team spirit, organization, and efficiency within the Technical Management and Crewing Department. We will always remember him as a cheerful, energetic man who brought laughter to the workplace. May he rest in peace.
