Finance Whiz Onur Demir Joins Our Team!
Onur Demir, with a Bachelors in Naval Architecture and Marine Technology from Black Sea University (Varna) and Economics from Anadolu University, along with an MBA in International Finance from ITU, brings a wealth of experience to the Atlantis/Armona Family. He joined us on September 6th, 2021.
Following his extensive studies, Onur spent nine years in the banking sector, starting at Garanti BVBA and later becoming a Branch Manager at ING Bank. After political issues in Turkey intensified, ING pulled out, prompting Onur to reinvent himself. He transitioned to an HR and DPA Assistant role at a shipping company for three years before joining Movers Trading's Istanbul office in the UAE. There, he led as Crewing Manager, overseeing office staff and the 140 crew members across their seven dry-bulk vessels.
Onur honed his administrative skills throughout his career, including analyzing and working with IT/office systems (e.g., setting up Mover's EMS System with Danaos). His corporate finance experience, particularly in SME loan sales, honed his communication skills, teamwork, accuracy, initiative, and service orientation. A logical approach and ability to work under pressure make him a valuable asset as a Tanker Operator and Junior Tanker Broker.
