The Atlantis Almeria entered the bay of Tuzla on August 22nd for its second special survey. The antifouling paint has performed exceptionally well, preserving the hull's condition throughout the entire 5-year period.
As expected, propeller blades and hub accumulated barnacles within the 26 months since the last underwater blade grinding by divers. Barnacle growth significantly reduces propeller efficiency due to increased resistance caused by their rough surface, leading to energy loss.
In a first for our company, we will be painting the propeller during this docking. This is a test to determine if we can prevent barnacle growth until the next docking in five years, thereby achieving fuel savings and reducing emissions.
