Congreso Nacional 2018

Atlantis Director, Marlon Weinstabl, attended the Spanish Association of Maritime Law's (AEDM) annual two-day National Congress held at Uria Menendez in Madrid.

Themed "New Challenges Facing Maritime Law," the Congress took place from June 14th to 15th and featured presentations and discussions on a range of timely topics, including:

  • The new contractual forms of BIMCO
  • The future of navigation and regulation of autonomous vessels
  • The proposed new regulation of ship consignees
  • The International Maritime Committee (CMI) proposal for unified rules for the judicial sale of ships

The Congress also paid tribute to the recently deceased Professors D. Manuel Oliveto, D. Francesco Berlingieri, and D. Aurelio Menéndez, recognizing their lasting contributions to the maritime law world.

Adding to the event's depth, talented law students from the University Carlos III participated in a Moot Maritime Arbitration case.

The Congress benefitted from the expertise of esteemed moderators and speakers, including renowned university professors, legal practitioners, and industry specialists.

We extend our gratitude to AEDM for hosting this exceptional event. We look forward to attending their grand anniversary celebration next year!
