For the second consecutive year, Armona Denizcilik, our operating company, was invited by the Izmir University of Economics (Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi), Faculty of Maritime Studies, to participate in their 17th Winter Career Open Days. This event provides ship operators with an opportunity to showcase their companies and answer questions from aspiring junior officers and marine engineers about their careers.
The student conference, held on November 22nd, was led by our Crewing Manager, Özgür Çetinkaya, and his assistant, Emre Yalçın. During the event, female students expressed particular interest in Armona's employment policies for female graduates. Additionally, there was a strong request for Armona to offer a 10-week apprenticeship program.
Our success rate with past apprentices is impressive. Over 60% of apprentices from the past two years have gone on to work as officers on board Armona-operated vessels. This mutually beneficial program highlights the value Armona places on developing future maritime professionals. Recognizing this success, Özgür offered to provide apprenticeship opportunities to a total of seven students from Izmir University in 2013, with four positions in Deck and three in Engine.
