In August 2011, we entered into an agreement with UK-based shipping company Borealis to provide technical management and crewing services for the chemical/oil tanker Bomar Mercury.
Built in 2008 by Birleşik Denizcilik in Ereğli, Turkey, the vessel was initially named Görkem Bey. Unfortunately, it was arrested by the mortgagee and subsequently sold via an auction in the UK. Our affiliated organization, Niveko, had previously provided and commissioned the MaK Propulsion System for the vessel and assisted in its financing. Bomar Mercury marks our first vessel taken into management outside of the Atlantis Fleet.
