It will neither be quick nor easy, however, as "Maritime Partners in Safety" at Shell, we at ARMONA, the management arm of Atlantis Tankers, stand at the dawn of a new era.
After a year that confounded the expectations of even the gloomiest professional optimists, and despite the glib forecasts of a brighter future for our shipping business, we have managed to conquer a sequence of milestones many would have believed were out of reach.
However, the story I want to share focuses on two grand days our CEO experienced [pictured with Dave Bourbon, Shell's conference facilitator] at the 2017 Partners in Safety Maritime CEO Conference in London, held on January 12th and 13th, 2017.
The ultimate goal of the conference was to create and maintain a Zero Incident Industry. Thanks to intense efforts and investments by Shell, all Maritime Partners identified three clear actions: Leadership Visits to our vessels, Reflective Learning training sessions onboard and ashore, as well as the roll-out of the Learning Engagement Tool.
Fundamental to this approach is the "Care for People" philosophy, expressed in Resilience modules that all of you will be introduced to. These tools allow us to transmit the message to all our ships' and shore-based members.
Our mission is to be able to look into the eyes of the fathers, mothers, spouses, and children of our seafarers and proudly say that their beloved son or daughter, father or mother, husband or wife is working in the safest place in the world.
